I have trained in the Yamaha style of teaching, adapted to Australian children's style of learning, through Forte School of Music where I worked for 4 years from 2012 - 2016. I have also been trained in AMEB and can teach up to Grade 8.
For beginners piano (specifically children aged 4-11), there will be lots of Solfege singing and listening via VAK Learning styles (Visual, Audio, Kinesthetic) - making our lessons FUN and engaging for all your little ones!
Each student is unique, and so we will work together (including parents of young children) to tailor a specific program to reach your musical goals while continuing to harness the technical requirements at each level. This means we could be working through a program or a grade, but spend some time during lessons on fun songs on the radio, beginners jazz, blues etc.
I have program for basic piano improvisation and song-writing. I am a firm believer that everyone is naturally creative and will work closely with you in this program to hone your creative skills in practical ways. I typically offer this to any students that I feel may be interested, however, if you would like to include this in your annual music goals, we can most definitely do so! Have a chat with me during your lesson and we can start improvising together!
